Key Responsibilities:
1. Visual Planning and Collaboration:
- Collaborate with the director and production team to understand the artistic and emotional intent of the project.
- Participate in pre-production meetings to discuss shot lists, camera angles, lighting setups, and overall visual style.
- Provide input on set design, costumes, and color palettes to enhance the visual storytelling.
2. Camera and Lighting Setup:
- Select appropriate cameras, lenses, and other equipment based on the project's requirements.
- Set up cameras, lenses, and accessories to achieve desired framing, focus, and depth of field.
- Design lighting setups that complement the mood and tone of the scenes, using various techniques to control light and shadow.
3. Shot Composition and Framing:
- Determine the best camera angles, movements, and compositions for each shot to enhance the narrative.
- Plan and execute dynamic camera movements such as pans, tilts, dollies, and handheld shots.
- Maintain continuity in shot composition and framing throughout filming.
4. Camera Operation:
- Operate the camera during filming, ensuring smooth and consistent shots while capturing the desired emotions and actions.
- Make real-time adjustments to camera settings, focus, and exposure to adapt to changing lighting conditions.
5. Lighting and Color Management:
- Set up and adjust lighting equipment to achieve the desired look and mood of each scene.
- Manage color temperature, color balance, and color grading to maintain visual consistency and artistic intent.
6. Problem Solving and Adaptation:
- Address technical challenges that arise during shooting, such as lighting difficulties or equipment malfunctions.
- Collaborate with the production team to find creative solutions that align with the project's visual goals.
7. Post-Production Collaboration:
- Work closely with the editor and colorist during post-production to ensure that the final visual product aligns with the director's vision.
- Provide input on color correction, visual effects, and overall visual enhancement.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Strong portfolio showcasing a range of visual styles and techniques.
- Proficiency in using various cameras and lighting equipment.
- Fluency in English is a must.
- If you are a Bangalore-based out is a plus.
- In-depth understanding of composition, lighting, color theory, and visual storytelling.
- Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively within a creative team.
- Knowledge of industry-standard post-production processes and software is a plus.
